Residential plastering covers anything from your new home build to repairs & restorations.
At Steel Group Plaster we cover all aspects of plastering so whatever you require of us you can be certain we can deliver.
With No obligation free quotes, you can start the process to getting your residential project plastered with an email, phone call or enquiry form to us.
From here we will arrange a site visit to go through what is required of us on your project, answer any questions you may have also giving any advise we think you should know.
followed by an emailed quotation and will be available for follow up questions.
The next step is to get you booked in to get some plaster on those walls & ceilings.
After your site visit and on acceptance of your quotation we will arrange a date for the supply and delivery of the required materials and sundries for your plaster project. This may mean your materials will arrive on the truck which we will meet on site or for smaller project we will bring everything we require along with us.
Ceilings, if your plaster project requires the finishing of ceilings then firstly you will require laser level metal battens either on clips or direct fix depending on how straight and level your timber ceiling trusses are.
This creates a grid like effect battens running opposite from trusses and plaster running opposite from battens. Therefore any expanding/contracting or movement in your timber ceiling trusses wont affect your plaster finish as sheets are fixed directly to the metal battens.
Hanging includes the linings on your ceilings and walls. The types of plaster sheeting we use will vary depending on where and for what purpose those sheets require. For example we use CSR Gyprock as our supplier and for ceilings we would use a Superceil plasterboard along with back blocking to stop any sagging in the span from batten to batten. Standard walls we would use 10mm RE Plasterboard. Wet Areas we would use an Aquacheck Plasterboard or Villaboard (Cement Sheeting).
Any Acoustic finishes we would use a Soundcheck Plasterboard along with Acoustic Insulation.
The Troweling of your plasterboard joints, Firstly we would set up any trowel beads external angles ect. All joints and internal angles will be taped in with a paper tape, any patch work is the only area easy tape should be used on.
Smaller projects, renovations and repairs will normally be hand troweled any jobs with larger areas or more square metres we will normally run the troweling boxes to speed up this process.
All joints, external angles and patches are coated with a three coat system being 2x base coats and 1x top coat.
Your finished plasterboard joints ect will be sanded back smooth and blemish free using a combination of an electric dust free sanding machine connected to a vacuum, along with hand sanding any touch up or internal angles. After this process your plasterboard is ready for painting.
Plastering can be a messy process but we do take all measures to ensure your home, premises or site is kept clean throughout the job duration.
We carry drop sheets and dust doors for repair works in clients homes, take all rubbish and leave everything looking clean as when we entered.
New Builds, Renovations, Extensions ect, we will ensure we leave the site clean and tidy after pack up each day and on completion all floors will be scrapped and swept ready for the next trades to enter a clean and tidy site.

Cinema rooms, Music studios, Sound proofing your houses rooms. We can achieve this for you by combining acoustic insulation with acoustic plasterboard to get the results your looking for.
If your all about large open areas with plenty of natural light coming in then sometimes just troweling your joints isn't quite enough, you may want to look into having your walls and ceilings finished with a level 5.
This is when your plasterboard walls and ceilings don't just have the joints troweled but we float the entire walls/ceilings so in whatever light they look amazing.
Does your home have brick or block walls?
Well White Set is the process of coating them with a hard wall plaster and lime putty mix.
We them float and burnish the walls to leave a smooth flat or textured white finish ready for paint, or leave as is for a totally natural finish.
Curved walls and Ceiling can be done, they look amazing and can be the feature to any house.
We build the framing for these walls and ceilings out of metal studs and flexible metal track systems.
It is then hung with special flexi plasterboard that is bent to shape and screwed onto the track and studs.
If you're not a fan of architrave or skirting boards then there is another option for you.
we can supply and install trowel beads to windows, doors, the bottoms of sheets were skirting would normally go.
There are plenty of finishes such as a flat and flush or a shadow line finish.
Ornamental plastering is far from plain or bland. We have said it before and will say it again this is our favourite finish, it will turn heads and stands out as the feature in any home.
